Hale United Reformed Church was founded in 1898 as the Ashley Road Congregational Church. The church grew rapidly between 1900 and 1910 leading to the construction of a new church, the Hale Church, which opened in 1913. The church continued to grow and gather members with a Junior Church being founded and other various social and sporting organisations. The national union of the Congregation Church and Presbyterian Church in 1972 saw the church re-named Hale United Reformed Church and also caused some financial difficulties. In the 2003 Hale, in conjunction with Bowdon Trinity and Woodlands, formed part of the United Reform Church, with Hale becoming Trinity Hale.
