The church, probably opened in the mid-nineteenth century, was initially a member of Heywood UMFC Circuit, but transferred to Manchester (North East) United Methodist Circuit in 1910, then on to Manchester (Harpurhey) Methodist Circuit in 1936, then on to Middleton Methodist Circuit in 1950. Hebers closed in 1969.
