The school opened as a British School 24 January 1870 which it remained until its transfer to the Education Committee in 1905. In October 1872 the Boys and Girls Departments amalgamated to form a Mixed Department. The school closed 7 July 1911 and pupils were transferred to Moseley Road School [M66/47].
