Dunwood House, Withington, was started as a hostel for Jewish refugees in 1940 and was run by the Manchester Jewish Refugee Committee. On the Committee's dissolution it was continued by the Warden and Matron assisted by an advisory committee consisting of former members of the Refugee Committee including Mr Jacobs.
