Custodial history:
The two volumes of notes for lessons in Zoology are in a different hand from the journals of Clara Alcock, and were most probably written by her father, Thomas Alcock, M.D., (1823-1891) surgeon and naturalist, and curator of the Museum of the Manchester Natural History Society. There are frequent references in his daughter's diaries to lessons given by her father. Thomas Alcock was brother of Randle Hibbert Alcock of Bury, also a naturalist.
