The papers in this collection were given by Mr. F. S. Stancliffe. In 1958 as part of' the John Shaw' s Club Library which had been on deposit in the Special Collections Department since July 1954. He had acquired them from the office of Farrar & Co., who were the successors of Edward Chesshyre's office.
