Services were first held in the School erected in Cornbrook St. c 1866. The foundation stone of St. Bride's was laid on 10 March 1877 and the church consecrated on 2 August 1878. It was assigned a District from St. Margaret's, Whalley Range, by Order in Council, 17 May 1879 (London Gazette, 25 May 1879).
