Custodial history:
In 1937 the Congregational Church at Thorpes Road, Newton Heath was closed down and sold and it was decided to use the proceeds to build a new church at Moston. In May 1939 services began in temporary accommodation in Broadhurst Cafe, Lightbowne Road but these were vacated in March 1940, and the war prevented a new church being built. In 1949 the question of a church was again considered and an Investigation Committee was set up in 1950, but owing to lack of support the project was abandoned.
