Alice Fay (ca 1820-1886) was the daughter of William Simpson, a Moston silk manufacturer, in whose memory she left money (estate valued at £22,708 10s 11d in 1889) for the Simpson Memorial School, Moston which opened in 1888. She also endowed the Alice Fay Exhibition for women, and the William Simpson Exhibition for men, for £25 for three years for Moston people at Manchester University.
