The Amalgamated Society of Woodcutting Machinists was formed in 1866 and merged with the National Union of Furniture Trade Operatives to form the Furniture, Timber and Allied Trades Union in 1971. Records of other Unions are with this collection because they were found with the papers when a previous office was cleared
