The Order was founded in 1896 as a sick and burial society for those who supported the Zionist ideals of the re-settlement of the Jewish people in Palestine. The Order and its Beacons (branches) were dissolved on 30 June 1977.

These records were deposited by Mr. P. Mann in February 1982, with the exception of the Grand Council minutes, 1950-1965 and the King David Beacon minutes, 1930-1941, which were deposited through the Committee for the publication of the History of Manchester Jewry in January 1973 and March 1976.
