Custodial history:
The Fellowship was established in October 1907. The aims of the Fellowship were to promote social, professional and educational welfare within their membership, which was open to all who were interested in the aims of the Fellowship. The Fellowship organised social and educational visits to libraries in the area events of interest such as the illuminations etc. The Fellowship produced a quarterly journal 'Manchester Librarian' which contained news, articles, reviews, notice of members events such as marriages etc. The Fellowship also had a Social Committee which organised social events for the members including dances, whist drives etc. There was also a Drama, Rambling and Tennis Sections who appointed their own officers and committees and carried out recreational activities. The Fellowships work was temporarily suspended during the War as was the publication of 'Manchester Librarian'. After the War and the Fellowship looked to resume its activities in 1946 but it was found that circumstances had changed and that the Fellowship was no longer viable. It was therefore decided to indefinitely suspend the Fellowship at an Extraordinary Meeting of the Fellowship on the 26 October 1946.
