5) Letter from John Markland of Manchester to John Heywood of London about the fear among tenants on Heywood's land that as the Earl of Derby has only one son the male line may die out and the land between Manchester and Bury, granted to Thomas, Earl of Derby and his heirs male at Bosworth, may revert to the crown. Recommends that they ensure Mr Jones builds on Heywood's own land at Cheetham and not on Derby land, 12 May 1787.
