Custodial history:
The earliest meetings of the Methodist New Connexion society in Altrincham took place in a kitchen in Norman's Place. A church and schoolrooms were opened in 1821, a larger school following in 1860. The church was originally part of the Manchester (South) Methodist New Connexion Circuit, re-named Manchester (South) United Methodist Circuit after the Methodist Union of 1907. In 1917 it moved to Manchester (Oxford Road) UM Circuit, then, after the Methodist Union of 1932, it moved to the new Altrincham Methodist Circuit. The church was closed in 1966 when the Society combined with Altrincham ex-Wesleyan (C18/2) and other Methodist churches in the Altrincham area to form Altrincham Methodist Church (C18/20).
