The first chapel opened in November 1884 and was part of Oldham Wesley Circuit. The church transferred to the successor circuits - Oldham (East) Methodist Circuit in 1951, Oldham Methodist Circuit in 1969 and Oldham and Saddleworth Circuit in 1976. It closed in 1995.
