The first Royton Wesleyan chapel was opened in 1806 in Chapel Street and a separate school building was opened in 1868. The new chapel in Market Street was built in 1875. It belonged to Oldham Wesley Circuit until 1951 when it was transferred to Shaw and Royton Methodist Circuit. The church closed in around 1967 and its members joined with the Royton Oldham Road and Haggate societies to form Trinity Methodist in Royton
