The first Primitive Methodist church in Pendleton was opened in around 1851 in John Street. In 1874 the members purchased a plot of land in Broad Street and opened a new church there. The church belonged to Manchester 3rd Primitive Methodist Circuit, but, soon after Methodist Union of 1932, it was moved to the Pendleton Circuit. The church closed in 1947.
