Moston, St Mary's Road Methodist Church (ex-Methodist New Connexion)

1886-1962
Archives
The Moston Methodist New Connexion Sunday school commenced as a branch school of the Culcheth MNC church. Meetings started in 1886 and were held in a cottage in Buckley Street off St Mary's Road. After some fund-raising, the Moston society was able to build its own school-chapel, opened in 1888, in St Mary's Road. In 1914 a second new building was opened on a different site in St Mary's Road and the old building was taken over and used for an iron foundry. In 1926 a new Primary Department building was opened. The Moston church originally belonged to Manchester (North) MNC Circuit, re-named Manchester (North) United Methodist Circuit after the Methodist Union of 1907. In 1936 the church joined Manchester (Culcheth) Methodist Circuit, then Manchester (Newton Heath) Methodist Circuit in 1958, Manchester (North East) Methodist Circuit in 1966 and Manchester (North) and Middleton Circuit in 1970. It closed however in 1975.
