Total copies: 1
The first Methodist chapel in Moston (at Streetfold) was Wesleyan, but after the Methodist schism of 1835, the Moston Methodists joined the rebel group, the Wesleyan Association (after 1857 known as the United Methodist Free Church) and it was not until 1877 that the Wesleyans started a cause in Moston, in a preaching room in Herbert Street. Ashley Lane church was opened in around 1880 and was part of Manchester (Victoria) Wesleyan Circuit. In 1936 it joined Manchester (Harpurhey) Methodist Circuit. Ashley Lane closed in 1965 and its society joined other Moston societies at Streetfold ex-UMFC to form Moston Methodist, Moston Lane.
