Originally a Mixed School. The girls transfered to Bury New Road Girls Board School [M66/13] in September 1877 and Joynson Street transferred to the School Board in September 1877 as Strangeways Boys Board School, with a mixed infants class. A separate Infants Department was created in April 1882. The school amalgamated with Bury New Road Girls Board School and moved to new premises in Waterloo Road [M66/91] in September 1889.
