St Chrysostom's Girls and Infants National School opened at Clarence Street 4 September 1876. A new school building was erected in 1881 at Clarendon Road. St Chrysostom's Higher Grade Boys School opened on Clarenden Road 2 October 1882. A separate Infants Department was created 4 May 1903. The Boys and Girls Departments amalgamated from 22 July 1922.
