The foundation stones were laid in 1877 and the church was opened in 1887. It was a member of Manchester (Oxford Road) Wesleyan Circuit and its successor Manchester (Withington) Methodist Circuit. The church was closed for worship in 1948 and sold in 1950.

The records were deposited in 1997 by Revd Colin Cooper, Superintendent Minister, Withington Methodist Circuit (accession number: 1997/50). The marriage registers, apart from the first one, were transferred from the Methodist Archives and Research Centre in 1977 (ref: M275/298/1-5).
