Levenshulme Wesley began in Chapel Street in 1797. A new church was built in 1865 in Wesley Street (re-named Woodfold Avenue). A Sunday school was built in 1897. The church was transferred from Stockport (Tiviot Dale) Circuit to Manchester (South East) Methodist Circuit in September 1964. It was joined with the Alma Park ex-United Methodist society 1968 and then transferred to Manchester (Withington) Methodist Circuit in September 1970.
