Langley Methodist Church

1956-1977
Archives
A Methodist society started meeting in a junior school on the Langley Estate, moving to the County Modern Secondary School on Windermere Road as the society expanded. From 1955 the society had its own minister and in 1959 it was able to move into its own church building, the construction of which had been funded by the closure and sale of older Middleton churches such as Hebers and Sadler Street. Initially a member of Middleton Methodist Circuit, Langley church transferred to the amalgamated Manchester (North) and Middleton Methodist Circuit in 1970 and from 2002 it was a member of the new Manchester Circuit. The church closed in 2006, the last service being held on 26 July, and its members joined the Long Street church in Middleton.
