This was originally Great Bridgewater Street Wesleyan Chapel, Manchester, opened in 1801. It headed its own circuit, Manchester 4th Wesleyan (Great Bridgewater Street) Circuit, until 1888 when the circuit became Eccles Wesleyan Circuit and the church was transferred to the Manchester and Salford Mission. There were two Sunday schools, each with their own trust, but affiliated to Great Bridgewater Street chapel: one in Trumpet Street, round the back of the chapel, and one in Queen Street, Hulme. In 1897/8 the chapel and schools were sold and the proceeds used to erect a new mission and school building in Queen Street, called Bridgewater Hall. The hall closed in 1968 and, re-named Wesley, it moved to a new building in Royce Road. Wesley joined the new Manchester Circuit in 2002.
