The church opened in 1887. The original building was intended to be a temporary one, but it was not until 1909 that the new, larger church was erected on the same site. The church belonged to Manchester (Cheetham Hill) Wesleyan Circuit and continued in the successor Manchester (Cheetham Hill and Prestwich) Methodist Circuit. It closed however in 1974 and its society joined with Cheetham Hill ex-Wesleyan society in new premises to form Crumpsall Methodist Church.
