Custodial history:
This church originated as York Street Church, Cheetham Hill, which was opened in 1836 and was initially part of the Wesleyan Methodist Association, but after 1857 belonged to the United Methodist Free Church. A larger, replacement church was built in York Street (later re-named Cheetham Hill Road) in 1865. However, owing to the exodus of many of its members to the then less built-up areas of Broughton and Crumpsall, the church moved to Leicester Road in Higher Broughton in 1907. TheYork Street church had belonged to Manchester (Lever Street) UMFC Circuit: the Leicester Road church became the lead church in Manchester 1st United Methodist Circuit. It moved to Manchester (Cheetham Hill) Methodist Circuit in 1935 and closed in 1956.
