Scope and contents

Series contains five files relating to legacies left to the Refuge between the years 1891-1953 and 1988-1991. The files largely contain letters from different solicitors to the Refuge, informing them of the amount donated to them. Where a will stipulated an amount of money to be left to 'charitable institutions', theRefuge would often write to the executors, highlighting the Charity's objects, to try and obtain a share of the money.
