Given to the Board on 15 Dec 1924, the shelter at 54 Upper Brook Street was opened as a refuge for boys and girls aged 5-16. Later run as shelter for unmarried mothers and their babies and emergency refuge, that moved to Withington in 1959. By 1972 it was necessary to adapt its use once more and in Jul 1973 it became St Agnes Assisted Community Home. In 1979 it was closed following a fire and did not re-open. The records relating to its later operations are at M629/3/27.
