A reading room was initially opened in Crescent Road, Crumpsall on 6 Sep 1897. The foundation stone for the new library was laid on the 26 Oct 1909 by the Lord Mayor Edward Holt. The new permanent library was opened on 10 Apr 1911 on the corner of Cheetham Hill Road and Kitchen Bank. This library was re-opened after a refurbishment in both May 1924 and then Jan 1958. Crumpsall Library moved to new Abraham Moss building opened in Jul 1974. The library is still currently operating from the Abraham Moss Building [2006].
