Extracts from will of Thomas Nuttall of Rumworth who died 7 October 1814, leaving rents of £2-2-0 and 15/- to the vicar of Bolton and the curate of Westhoughton, to pay one third to the vicar of Deane to preach a charity sermon in June in Deane Church to support a Sunday School at Deane or elsewhere in Rumworth. If the charity sermon is not preached the third of the rents is to go to churchwardens of Deane chosen from Farnworth, Rumworth or Kearsley for buying religious books for children at Deane Church School in Rumworth or to the poor people of Deane. The other two third parts of the rents to go to purchase religious books for Deane Church Sunday School. If the Sunday School be discontinued the two thirds to go the Friendly Soc. held at Deane Church.
