Postcard of local scene from a sales-promotion campaign run by Albert Breeze, jeweller and silversmith of Macclesfield

This postcard was a sales-promotion gimmick. The owner of the jewellers shop would have about 1,000 (?) postcards of various places printed each week with this on the back and if you bought one, and it matched the one shown in his window you would win a gold brooch. The advertisement for this reads as follows (on the back of each postcard bought): "Breeze's Wheeze is sure to please. If this picture is the same design as the one shewn in my window you get a Brooch free. Albert Breeze. Jeweller, Silversmith, 70 Sunderland St., Macclesfield. 10 Gold brooches for nothing.' `A. Breeze to stir up business. I have been supplying the inhabitants of Macclesfield and the district with truth-telling watches and clocks, delightful Jewellery, and charming Presents. I have sweet chiming Silver Bells for babies, lovely Bangles, and other articles to adorn the ladies. For the boys I keep Tip-top pocket Knives, and the girls can be made joyful with a nice Bag, Purse, or other nick-nack. I have for the older boys Gramophones and records, so that with sweet music the long winter nights can be shortened. I am also able to brighten your table with a good selection of Silver or Plate - all latest designs and up-to-date; and so that your Old Plate shall not get left in the cold I can undertake to replate it in silver or gold. I can rectify watches that go too fast and gramophones that go too slow. I can supply those little things called Wedding Rings to the little things that require them.
