Kathleen Bamforth, donor's sister (left) and her friend, Annie Marshall (right) in Vernon Park, Stockport in 1927 or 1928. Kathleen's hair is styled in an Eton crop. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bamforth moved to Lancashire in 1915. Fred's mother and father died within 11 weeks of each other in 1913. Fred had to get out of his trade for the sake of his health. Fred and Sarah had the choice between a newsagent's in Blackpool and a mixed business corner shop at 24, Gill Street, Lower Brinnington, Stockport. They chose the latter, because Sarah's family came from School Lane, Didsbury. The donor, their son Joe, was aged 8 when they came to Stockport in c.1915.
