The wedding of Alex Gaukroger and Geoffrey Dakin. Alex was Winnies friend. They were both milliners in Manchester at one time. The couple had 1 daughter and then Alex died in childbirth. Winnie is kneeling down, on the right of the bride. Ada Ireland's sister Mary Day, nee Withington, was a milliner with a shop on Ashton Old Road. Winnie left School and was sent to work for her auntie, Mary Day. The shop was known as the 'Swing of Droylsden'. C.1936/7.
