These are the terraced houses on the left-hand side of Miriam St. The first four, between the jutting walls were four-roomed dwellings. The rest had an additional out-building kitchen behind. Next to the far end was no. 39 where I was brought up, and the last one no.41, was the home of my grandma and grandad Swallow. No.25 which was our first home on getting married is next door to the house whose frontage has been cleaned up. They had bright red Accrington brick faces. In the yard on the left front, can be seen the roof of the outside toilet and the same building contained an open 'Midden' which was also a receptacal for 'Night Soil'.
