This gable-end at no.41, marked the finish of Miriam St., until it was extended about 1933-34. On the corner of the pavement stood a street gas-lamp, around which we loved to swing. At Xmas, grandad Swallow would have his family, singing carols around it. No.39 (next to the end) still with its old type windows, was my childhood home. In 1934, we moved from no.25 to make our married home here, and this is where Gerald spent his early years. After the death of my grand-parents no.41 became the home of my father's sister 'Aunty Nellie'. She and Gerald were great pals. (These were the last houses reaching towards the distant Pennines).
