Most of these have been printed in the Manchester Guardian and include letters to the editor regarding child welfare and articles about the Manchester and Salford Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the establishment of new homes, such as Bethesda in 1890. It does not contain anything on the Gilbert Kirlew scandal of 1895. The item also contains an index at the front of the book highlighting the main topics covered in the book.
