Formed in 1894 by a meeting of the churchmen of the N.W. Parliamentary Division who adopted part of the programme of the N. Manchester Voluntary Schools Association relating to organising the parishes to defend the interests of Voluntary Schools at the School Board elections. A Committee of Clergy and up to six laity from each parish to promote church candidates at the School Board elections.
