Knocking on haven's door

Goulden, Barbara2010
Book
It's a year since the arson attack that could have reduced Peacehaven Mansions to ashes. The culprit has never been found although Jane and her odd mixture of fellow tenants, all living with some form of mental illness, have become closer as a group. Jane still doesn't accept that she suffers from schizophrenia. She believes her real problem is heart disease. But as her niece Bella says, who wouldn't prefer that diagnosis. Then there's Bella's mother, Sandy, and her relationship with the jazz musician Jane used to refer to as Dodgy Roger. Barbara Goulden was born in 1936 and grew up on a Manchester council estate. She has worked as a journalist for over 30 years and has direct experience of schizophrenia through her older sister Rose.
