Xiaogang Feng directs this Chinese comedy drama adapted from the novel by Zhenyun Liu. Looking to register for a second apartment the Chinese government has only made available to single people, uneducated villager Xuelian Li (Bingbing Fan) and her husband Qin (Zonghan Li) come up with a plan to get a divorce, apply for the property, then remarry after they are granted the rights to the additional home. However, when the apartment is assigned to Qin, he suddenly goes back on the agreement and marries another woman instead. Left angry and alone, a determined Li decides to take her case to top government officials in Beijing in an attempt to get her vengeance.
