Yvonne Shelton is a singer, vocalist, community project facilitator. Born and raised in the Hulme/Rusholme/Moss Side/Chorlton areas of Manchester. Grew up singing in a gospel choir which gigged around the UK, sang on TV and on records etc. The choir performed with singers and groups such as Patti LaBelle, Patti Austin, George Michael, Stevie Wonder and Foreigner. Key singers from the choir, including Yvonne, had a residency at Band on the Wall in Manchester. Yvonne went to university to study fashion at Manchester Metropolitan University. Throughout university Yvonne worked as a session singer. After university Yvonne worked as a designer for a few years. She has since worked extensively in the music industry working with a number of high profile bands and singers including singing on some tracks for the Stockport band the Blossoms. Yvonne moved to Stockport after her marriage in 1990 to her ex-husband Fritz McIntyre, a member of Simply Red. Yvonne was one of the organisers of the Black History in Stockport project (2020) with Aba Graham. Yvonne set up two organisations J8 in Stockport and is a founder member of Urban Voice in Manchester. These organisations work facilitating projects around singing and performance.
