The church was opened in 1845 and belonged to the Manchester 1st Wesleyan Methodist (Oldham Street) Circuit. It joined Manchester (Victoria) Wesleyan Methodist Circuit in 1878, then transferred to the Manchester and Salford Wesleyan Methodist Mission in 1888. Ebenezer closed in 1897.
