Arrangement of narrow Ashton Mill Type converted from beam engine with upright shaft to horizontal engine with rope drive bevel geared to room lineshafts. Such conversions interfered little with production as new engine was put down, pulleys and shafts made ready, then at wakes, beam engine scrapped and pulleys erected inside glass race.
