Rectangular with castellated top edge folded over and stitched to receive horizontal mounting pole and scallopped bottom edge. Constructed of 2 layers of cloth, the front purple velvet with arch shaped inset of red and gold silk, the back of thick red cotton. Upper inscr. above the inset, in gold lettering with a gold thread edging 'MANCHESTER AND SALFORD'. Three gold bees appliqued on to the velvet each side of the inset panel. The inset consists of red and gold alternative diagonal striped leaving a triangular red piece in the bottom left hand corner. Upper inscr., on inset 'CONCILIO ET LABORE'. Beneath this, ship with 3 masts, 2 unfurled sails. All in black material appliqued onto the silk. Lower inscr. in gold lettering on red triangular piece 'WOMENS SUFFRAGE SOCIETY'. Five more golden bees.
