Special Collections: John Ward Sound Recordings Collection

John Ward accumulated this material over years of discographical research into the operatic and recording careers of famous and not so famous singers of the past. The material embraces the technical, economic, musical, biographical and social aspects of recorded sound. John contributed to journals such as the Record Collector and on occasion to Manchester Sounds. Most of his research was done in the library. The collection includes books and record catalogues, including some twenty years of the Edison Phonograph Monthly in rare facsimile edition published on a subscription basis in America.
