Custodial history:
The Great Central Railway formed in 1899 from the Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. In 1923 it amalgamated with the London and North Eastern Railway. In 1948 it became part of British Railways. The main GCR works was at Gorton which closed in 1963
