These papers were collected by Arthur Mayall (1861-1932) director of Messrs John Mayall Ltd., cotton spinners. They concern his business and the Mayall and related families. They were given to the library in July 1976 by Mrs Dorothy Williamson of Millom, Cumberland, daughter of Arthur Mayall, via the Lancashire and Cheshire Antiquarian Society.
