Part was assigned to St. Michael, Bamford, by Order in Council, 2 March 1881 (London Gazette, 8 March 1881). The parish of St. George's, Heap Bridge, was formed from St. James's by Order in Council, 9 September 1907, (London Gazette, 13 September), and in 1979 St. Margaret's, Heywood, was assigned a District partly from St. James's, by Order in Council, 14 March, (London Gazette, 20 March 1979).
