The foundation stone of St. Bartholomew's church was laid on 30 August 1841 on a site given by Wilbraham Egerton. It was consecrated on 27 June, 1842.
It was assigned a District from the parishes of Christ Church and St. Philip's Salford, by Bishop's Instrument, 17 November 1842, which was confirmed by Order in Council, 31 July 1858 (London Gazette 13 August 1858).
By Order in Council 16 May 1871, (London Gazette, 19 May 1871) part of the parish was assigned to Stowell Memorial.
Part was assigned to St. Clement's Ordsall by Order in Council, 14 August 1879, (London Gazette, 26 August)
St. Bartholomew's church was closed in January 1974 and demolished in 1975. The parish was united with St. Clement with St. Cyprian, Ordsall, by Order in Council, 2 July 1976, (London Gazette, 8 July 1976, the united parish becoming St. Clement's, Ordsall.
