The Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs was formed on 23 Jan 1968 from the amalgamation of the Association of Scientific Workers and the Association of Supervisory Staffs, Executives and Technicians. Each of these unions covered a wide range of scientific and technical employment and the merger created an organisation that would cover the entire spectrum of jobs in science and technology.
